07-07-08 - Self-service baggage check-in at Schiphol.

In a highly welcomed move, Schiphol Airport and KLM have launched a trail run of a self-service baggage check-in system, allowing passengers to drop-off their baggage themselves.
The trial is run together with partners BagDrop & Scarabee who developed the system in cooperation with Schiphol and KLM. According to the plans the BagDrop will be on trial for a period of six months.
The self service drop off will allow passengers to take control of their journey and improve passenger travel experience by reducing queuing time. More and more passengers already check-in using self-service kiosks or via the internet. Through this trial the important baggage drop-off step becomes available as a self-service option.
