29-11-08 - VAN DEN ANKER high bay warehouse as new

The automated 3 aisle - 7200 pallet location high bay of VAN DEN ANKER is up and running perfect again. The over 17 years old warehouse and conveyor systems were subject to a thorough modernisation. All electric installation, electrical parts and drive systems and all moving parts of the 3 AHREND / HAUSHAHN pallet cranes and VAN RIET / MODERNIEK conveyor systems are renewed now. Also the old SIEMENS S5 & OMRON PLC’s are replaced by 1 central SIEMENS S7 PLC with new software. The old viad@t WMS is upgraded to the latest version and a visualisation of the installation is now possible. A major advantage of the Scarabee project approach was that the whole modernisation could be done wit an absolute minimum of down time. For VAN DEN ANKER, a 3PL supplier specialised in chemicals, this was highly important. After purchasing the warehouse from SYNGENTA in 2007 and after the necessary modernisation during 2008 VAN DEN ANKER now owns and runs an “as new” automated warehouse.
